Thanks for the positive feedback! I'm not a pro at writing tutorials, but may share another sometime in 2007. I don't bake too often, so we'll have to see. :)

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

I have been searching the internet for days to find the perfect thomas the train cake to use as a model. I am soo happy I came across your tutorial ! My sons birthday is next month.. I will post pictures of the cake- hopefully it won't look too terrible!

Very impressive!! I wish I was that creative, but alas... I'm off to the bakery to pick up my son's Thomas Birthday Cake. Keep of the great work.

Well you've certainly inspired me to have a go! Thanks Wendy! The only ready made Thomas cake I've seen in supermarkets here (Somerset UK) looks very artificial & toxic, and is fairly expensive, and I just don't have the budget to get one made for us by a bakery. My son's birthday is shortly after Easter, so I'd better get moving!! I did have an idea for the wheel problem though - I wonder if you could use biscuits,(or would you call them cookies) perhaps iced with black icing, then the blue spoke patten piped on? I'll have a go at this & let you know if it works. Anyway Thanks again.

Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial! I've just made the face, and will do the rest later in the week, for my son's 3rd birthday party. I was able to use my daughter's baby spoon (the handle looks almost exactly like the Wilton tool you showed) instead of the tools. Thank you again (and as soon as I can figure out how to use Pay Pal form my country I will make a donation)
